Compared to other tours, where you have to stick to trails, this Russian tour offers a unique opportunity to literally ride where you want. As in former socialist times, the land actually belongs to nobody. If you see a hill or a steep climb and you want to conquer it, just go do it. This tour offers a unique chance to ride through very remote villages and admire the beautiful Russian countryside. Throughout this tour, a variety of trails and terrain will be available - from leisurely rides in the spacious forest-steppe country to muddy forest trails, washed out bridges, and river crossings - a real adventure for the motorcycle enthusiast.

July 7-2008 Neal Seidner (just back from Russia):
"I can not thank you enough for steering me toward the Russia tour. There is no words to explain not only the value per dollar of this trip, but how well Lev has put it together. The ride is the ride of a true riders life time and suggest that you make his trip soon!"

DAY BY DAY

Day 1:

Moscow - Ufa

After you arrive in Moscow at Domodedovo Airport (DME) or Vnukovo Airport (VKO), you will be transferred to an additional two-hours flight to Ufa. Due to the additional two hours time difference, you arrive in Ufa in the evening. We will meet you at the Ufa Airport (UFA) and bring you to the President Hotel, which has the reputation of being the best hotel in the city. The President Hotel stands on the confluence of two rivers, and is surrounded by a pine grove. Before the adventure beings, you can simply relax and enjoy a nice meal.

Day 2:
Ufa - Ohlebinino

After a late breakfast, we will discuss the itinerary, riding rules, contingencies, and emergency plans before we gear up and jump on our new KTM 450 EXC bikes. We will have a leisurely ride to a bungalow camp located 60 km from Ufa in a beautiful spot on the river Belaya. We will then have snacks, followed by an optional test ride through the gentle flourish of foothills by the Ural Mountains. A typical Russian picnic with shashlik (Russian style barbecue), beer, and of course vodka will be waiting for you.

Day 3:
Ohlebinino - Tolparovo

Start the day with an early breakfast and head up to a different world – Russia's countryside. Enjoy a day of a relatively easy riding in spacious forest-steppe scenery. We will pass many small Russian and Bashkir villages, whose inhabitants lead such a simple and archaic life that it will be like going back in time. Later we will meet with the support vehicles and enjoy a bonfire lunch. After a three-hour afternoon ride we will pitch our tents in a nice tranquil place on the river Zilim near the settlement Tolparovo, cook together by bonfire, swim, and enjoy the rest of the evening with some Russian beer.

Day 4:
Tolparovo - Abzakovo

By the end of today, you will come to appreciate the off-road capabilities of the KTM bikes! Continuing to cross the Urals, we will get right into the virtually untouched Russian taiga. Depending on the weather conditions, the few available forest trails become a real challenge, even for experienced riders. After two to three hours of riding we will leave the forest and visit a partly exploited iron-ore mine. Afterwards, we will take a relaxing gravel road and ride back into the forest. We will have late lunch at the upper stream of the river Belaya, and afterwards we will take an easy ride to a lovely family hotel in Abzakovo – the favorite ski resort of President Putin. In the hotel restaurant we will enjoy a tasty dinner and celebrate your first crossing of the Ural Mountains.

Day 5:
Abzakovo - Orlovka

After breakfast at the hotel, we will depart direction in a north-northwest along the east side of the Urals, which is lush with lakes, hills, and spectacular scenery. Depending on the weather, we will stop for a swimming/lunch break at Lake Uzunkul, which is surrounded by a typical Russian pure silver birch forest. Some short sections are gravel roads and tarmac, so you can relax and enjoy a relatively quick and easy ride. By the evening, we will pitch our tents at Lake Aushkul and you again can enjoy the freshness of a clear mountain lake. You could try some fishing - with a little bit of luck we might get to have a traditional Russian fish soup called "Uha" for dinner.

Day 6:
Orlovka - Zyratkul

On the days three and four, we crossed the Urals from west to east, so to return back home we need to cross it in the opposite direction. And again there are only a few muddy trails through the wild taiga, which means challenging narrow trails, river crossings, lots of ascents and descents, and tons of dirt! By the evening, we will have reached Lake Zyratkul, located in a protected national park, where we settle in for the night. We will find accommodation in a Russian style solid-wood house at the recently built deluxe resort EcoPark. For dinner, enjoy delicious and tender calf's shashlik and aromatic herbal teas served in a wood-heated Russian banya with silver birch besoms and a cold water pool.

Day 7:
Zyratkul - Kordon

To recover from the strains of the previous forest trails, we will take the morning to relax. We don't want you to miss a chance to enjoy the tranquil surroundings of this place, go for a walk by the ancient Lake Zyratkul, or get more sleep. Afterward, we will have a late breakfast and lunch at the resort's restaurant. In the early evening, we will depart for an overnight stay in a remote bungalow camp at Zyratkul National Park.

Day 8:
Kordon - Bedyarish

We will continue to cross the Urals and the nearly impenetrable taiga for an intensive ride with short stops for snacks. Once again we will reach 'civilization' – a small settlement near Zlatoust-36, one of the Russia's closed military cities, located only few miles off our route. We will also pass several run-down and nearly abandoned villages lost in the middle of nowhere. At night we will camp in the forest.

Day 9:
Bedyarish - Asha

This will be our last hard enduro day. Partly overgrown forest trails with overturned trees, stones, deep grooves and large puddles filled with sticky mud will challenge even an experienced off-road rider. When we reach the settlement Suhaya Atya, it will mean that we have made it. After another 20 km of easy gravel road and tarmac we arrive in a small ski resort called 'Asha', where we will find accommodation in a comfortable wooden house. In the Russian wood-heated banya you can relax, drink beer, and enjoy the company of your fellow riders.

Day 10:
Asha - Ufa

The last day will be an easy ride, mostly on gravel and field roads mixed with some tarmac sections. On the way to Ufa, we will pass a number of villages, where you can once again observe the typical Russian countryside life. By late afternoon we will arrive in Ufa at the President Hotel. While you get some rest and pack your gear, we will load the bikes. In the evening we will invite you for a tasty farewell dinner with traditional Russian and Bashkir cousine.

Day 11:
Ufa - Moscow

After an early breakfast at the hotel we will take leave of this nearly untouched part of the world. After the short transfer to the Ufa airport (UFA), you will have the opporunity for a final farewell to the group. For those of you who want to stay longer in Moscow, we can help to make necessary arrangements for accommodation.

Note: We reserve the right to make changes during the course of the tour.
